Cub Scouting 101: which uniform should my child wear and when?
Good question. The rule of thumb is the Class A “full uniform” should be worn at all times. If leadership hasn’t specifically mentioned it, plan to be in Class A uniform. For our Pack that means shirt, hat, neckerchief, slide and belt. The uniform guide and patch placement diagrams can be found in the front of the scout handbook.
Pack 205 has a Class B uniform – it’s our yellow T-shirt with Pack 205 design. The Class B shirt will be called out for specific occasions – e.g. trash pickup service projects, outdoor activities where we’re likely to get dirty, etc. For Pack 205, the Class B can be worn during game night (the first Wednesday of the month). The full uniform should be worn at Pack Night and at Den meetings.
My child is a Lion (kindergarten), what is the preferred uniform? The Pack 205 Class B shirt is fine. The scout shop sells a specific Lion shirt, but it’s not necessary.
For new scouts / parents, the Class B shirt is included with our dues. Once you’re registered and dues are paid, we’ll issue your child their Class B shirt. The Class A uniform can be purchased from the scout shop. We also have a uniform closet of donated items for anyone needing assistance.
